According to the CNET computer news website, a CNET reporter was informed in an online chat room by a member of a hacker group that another major attack against computer servers at Sony is in the making.

The source alleged that customer names, credit card numbers, and addresses would be targeted. The Sony company has been plagued by cyber attacks that hit its PlayStation accounts about a month ago, and Congressional hearings and other investigations are underway to try to figure out who was responsible and how to prevent them in the future.

Apparently, after the CNET reporter filed her story about the chat room disclosure, Sony took the warning seriously and began to take additional steps to protect its computers from hackers. At the same time, Sony may also offer some lucrative cash rewards to anyone who helps bring the hackers to justice. CNET says that Sony has not yet decided whether or not to offer a bounty, but that it is one strategy under consideration.
