Swiss power and automation technologies firm ABB is in talks about performing a consultancy and technical advisory role for the construction of a 2,000km transmission line linking the 2.75GW HidroAys?n project set for southern Chile with the country’s capital Santiago, senior technical specialist John Grahan of ABB Brazil told BNamericas.

“We are interested in the HidroAys?n project. We imagine that for the project, HDVC [transmission technology] would be the most obvious candidate for the transmission system. We are talking to the customers, and are involved in the technical aspects,” Grahan said.

Transmission is perhaps the most controversial part of the HidroAys?n project, which envisages the construction of five dams across the Baker and Pascua rivers in southern region XI.

Die-hard shoppers scribbled lists, scoured advertisements and formed attack plans.

Just think of what it took to keep the chaos controlled so that could be possible.

First, the scope. As the clock struck midnight Friday at Kohl’s, a worker’s hand tally counter clicking as fast as possible to keep up, ended up with an estimated 1,930 people streaming into the department store in the opening minutes.

Twenty minutes in, aisles didn’t matter as shoppers crisscrossed their own shortcuts. Soon, the scampering turned into two solid lines snaking from the front registers around the store and overlapping in the back.

The only telltale signs of the herd were the once neatly placed items left either askew, on the floor or ditched in odd places and a banner in the toy section partially pulled down.
