Lakeway man to plead guilty in scam

AUSTIN (AP) — A Lakeway man accused of participating in a scam that collected $1.6 million and caused the delay of more than 1,100 foreclosures has agreed to plead guilty to the charges.

According to court documents reported in the Austin American-Statesman on Monday 53-year-old Frederic Alan Gladle will plead guilty Friday. He faces up to seven years in prison.

Gladle is accused of charging clients about $750 a month to delay foreclosure on their property.

Gladle’s associates would have them transfer a share of their property to the company. Those shares would be transferred to an unrelated person who had filed for bankruptcy and was unaware of the transaction. B

Alumni Association to honor outstanding seniors and graduates

The New Mexico State University Alumni Association will honor the fall 2011 Outstanding Seniors and Graduates at noon Dec. 9 during a luncheon in their honor at the Corbett Center Student Union ballroom.

The outstanding seniors and graduates are selected each semester by the dean from the university’s seven colleges and graduate school based on academic excellence, leadership and participation in community activities.

College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences will honor Amber Oberlin, from Middleburg, Pa. As a human nutrition and dietetic sciences major, Oberlin is graduating with a 3.961 GPA with crimson scholar status. S
